ABOUT ME

 Greetings,

Linda Reichert was born and raised in King and Queen county, in the deep woods of Virginia.  For as long as memory serves, she has always had a love for art and nature.  While gazing upon the trees and clouds she would find herself stricken with awe, amazed at how artist could replicate those things on canvas in such a realistic manner.  She always wished and hoped for similar skills.

Linda began doodling, sketching, anything and anywhere.  If there was paper near, of any kind or shape, she would put pencil to it, and create.  Whether it was shading-in circles or making an attempt to give life to a figure, she has always had the desire to create realistic drawings.

In the mid 90's She began teaching herself graphic design. In 2000, she opened a modest little shop at a flea market.  It was there when she began to design and make personalized gifts for her patrons.  She designed mugs, keychains, t-shirts, stationary, and also did touch-ups and made repairs to old photos.   She also designed paper for writers and poets that were selling their work.  She designed brochures, logos, business cards, and other marketing products for small businesses.  Her business became Grapicz4u.  Shortly thereafter, she was asked to do magazine and newspaper ads, and won a couple of small graphic contest.

Then life happened.  Linda lost family members and found herself moving back to her home-place in King and Queen county, Va.  A very secluded place. Quiet.  So much so one could hear a cat walking across the dry leaves outside.  It was a time for readjustment, self reflection and reinventing ones self.

In 2011 she starting drawing flowers with colored pencils. She didnt think she was great at it, but didnt deem herself horrible either. She loved doing it.  She checked out a few books from the library and gathered information from the internet. In February 2012 she discovered an affordable online drawing class and decided to treat herself.  Unsure of where to start, she thought 'the beginning of pencils' would be a good place.  Graphite pencils 101. That was it, she was hooked.

Linda loves working in graphite.  Her choice of medium.  She loves the feel of the pencil strokes on the paper while drawing high-lights of an animals fur.  Bringing life into her subject through their eyes, creating art.  Pencil, paint, or digital, it is just part of her very being. The photos, that she uses for reference tend to be of animals with a contemplative expression which she feels that they are conveying something through their eyes.  The expressionism in an animals face draws her in, the reason why she loves doing portraits and prefers them over full body drawings.

Linda hopes that her bio will inspires others.  Through her story she wants to convey the message that it is never to late to pursue your dream or your life calling.  No matter what age you may be, you can start today.  She wishes she had possesed the knowledge to begin earlier in life, but feels that now is a better time than never.
